Redlining (Buffer Geometry)

The Create buffer geometry command Red buffer icon.PNG allows you to draw a buffer around a feature class:

Click on the command to start with the redlining process. In the construction aid, on the top-right of the user interface, a corresponding form opens where you can specify buffer-relevant parameters:

In the Distance text box, you can specify the buffer distance from the feature you want to draw the buffer around:

In the Lineend combo box, you can select whether you want to have a buffer with a squared or a round line end:

In the Linejoin combobox, you can select whether you want to join single buffer segments or not:

In the Alignment combobox, you can select on which side you want to draw the buffer (left, right, or on both sides):

After specifying the buffer parameters, you can create the buffer by clicking on the feature where you want to draw the buffer around. When the Featureclass selection window opens, select the corresponding feature class and click OK.

The buffer will then be drawn around the feature according to the parameters specified in the construction aid.

It is possible to change the style of redlining polyline directly in GeoMedia Smart Client. The above shown figure opens automatically if you click on Create buffer geometry.

Field Description
Linetype Select a linetype:
  • Solid
Polyline solid.png
  • Dash
Polyline dott.png
  • Dash dotted
Polyline dashdott.png
Color A small window opens where you can select a specific bordercolor.
Blue.pngThe last chosen color will stay for every redlining element.

Fillcolor A small window opens where you can select a specific fillcolor.
Blue.pngThe last chosen color will stay for every redlining element.

Size Type in a desired size
Blue.pngSize is in pixel.

Blue.pngConfirm the size with a click on the Enter button on your keyboard.
