The scalebar element allows you to add scale relevant information to the print page. To add a scalebar element to your print layout page, click on the element and then drag it to onto the white page:

You can change the properties of the element in the settings window of the element.

Scalebar - Attributes

Scalebar element settings
Position [mm] Specification of the position of element on the page.
Left Horizontal distance from the top-left corner.
Top Vertical distance from the top-left corner.
Width x Height [mm] Size of the legend.
Border [mm] Settings regarding the scalebar border.
Show border Is the border of the scalebar visible? (Yes/No)
Dash array Constructs a dashed border line. The dash parameter are separated by spaces (for example 5 10 15).
Dash offset Distance between the dashes.
Fill Does the scalebar have a fill color? (Yes/No)
Linewidth Width of the legend line. (Default: 0.4)
Left The left distance from the scalebar frame to the scalebar itself. (Default: 0)
Top The top distance from the scalebar frame to the scalebar itself. (Default: 0)
Right The right distance from the scalebar frame to the scalebar itself. (Default: 0)
Bottom The bottom distance from the scalebar frame to the scalebar itself. (Default: 0)
Fill-Color Fill color of the scalebar. (Default: white)
Color Color of the broder line. (Default: black)
ScaleBar-Settings Settings concerning the labels of the scalebar.
Width [mm] Width of the bar. (Default: 13)
Height [mm] Height of the bar. (Default: 2)
Grandbar count Number of metric section on the bar.
Text-Settings Settings of the scalebar labels.
Font-Family Style of lettering
Font-Size [pt] Size of the letters. (Default: 10)
