Database Oracle SQLServer Access

Form database oracle.png

  • Fill in the schema's name as User ID and the schema's password as Password.
  • Add the connection string of the database as Data source. To connect to an Oracle database, the string must be in the form SchemaName/SchemaPassword@TNSNAME.
Blue.pngThe tnsname must be defined in the file tnsnames.ora in the Oracle directory on your server.

Example with TNSNAME

test To the top Pfeil new.png

GMSC/GMSC_PASSWORD@MY_GMSC_TNSNAME
where
Schema name: GMSC
Schema password: GMSC_PASSWORD
TNSNAME: MY_GMSC_TNSNAME

The box Connect is filled automatically once you entered all the required fields.

Blue.pngYou do not necessarily need a defined tnsname as was shown in the example above. Using databaseserver/instance as a connection string, you can also have access to the data.

In that case, the entry string should look like schemaname/schemapassword@databaseserver/instance.

Example without TNSNAME

test To the top Pfeil new.png

Schema name: GMSC
Schema password: GMSC_PASSWORD
TNSNAME: gmsc-server/orcl11
