Creating ClusterPoint Symbol (How To)

This tutorial shows you how to create a ClusterPoint symbolizer in GeoMedia Smart Client 15.

Blue.pngThe result will be the same symbolizer as you can see in our online demo.

1 Creating the ClusterPoint symbolizer in StyleEditor

  • Click Libraries on the right hand side.
  • Select an existing library or create a new one.
  • Click Add to create a new symbology within the specified library.
  • Click From Editor if you want to create a new one. If you have already an existing one click Upload and continue at Step 2.
  • Type in a usable name and choose ClusterPoint out of the drop down list of Symbology type.
  • Click Load Editor.
  • Click ClusterPoint in the scale area.
The following screenshot shows you the starting point of the ClusterPoint symbolizer in the StyleEditor:

  • Details to every single possible field can be found here.
  • Click Point clusterpoint.png.
  • Click Edit style.png to change the Graphic Graphic point.png.
  • Change the Size to 26.
  • Click Mark point.png to edit the MarkType of the symbol.
  • Select circle at the drop down list Pointtype.
  • Click Edit style.png to change the Fill Fill symbolizer.png.
  • Click on the Color.
  • Switch to the tab RGB.
  • Type in the field Colorcode:
  • 0097BA Clusterpoint fill.png

  • Click Text clusterpoint.png.
  • Change the Size to 15.

  • Click Exploded clusterpoint.png.
Blue.pngTo see the changes at the Exploded Cluster you have to click the symbol in the Preview Area.

  • Click Fill symbolizer.png.
Blue.pngWe will use a Fill here, otherwise the exploded cluster is transparent. Then it may happen, that two point symbologies are overlapping and this isn't a desired result.

  • Change it to white (RGB Code: FFFFFF).

  • Click Outline exploded clusterpoint.png.
Blue.pngThere will be no changes at all at Outline.

  • Click Delete style.png to get rid of the Stroke Stroke symbolizer.png.
  • Click Save to apply the changes and to save the style.

2 Adjustments in the Smart Client Administrator

  • Switch to the feature list.
  • Select the desired feature for the ClusterPoint symbolizer.
Blue.pngOnly point features are working with the ClusterPoint symbolizer.

  • Change the Interpretation to ClusterPoint.
  • Switch the tab to Symbols.
  • Click Add ClusterSymbol to get the possibility to add a cluster point display rule.
  • Edit the current display rule by clicking Edit.png.
  • Choose the corresponding Library and Symbology.
Blue.pngIn Step 1 we only created the ClusterPoint symbolizer. You may need a common point symbolizer. Details can be found here .

Blue.pngIn our online demo some SVG's are used to display the common point symbols.

  • Click Add to add display rule(s) for your common point symbols.
  • Click Save to apply the changes.
  • Assign the feature to the legend. Details can be found here.
  • Click Roles on the right hand side.
  • Select or create the role for whose the ClusterPoint should be used.
  • Switch the tab to Features.
  • Select a Project from the drop down list.
  • Change the Right to Activate.
Blue.pngThis time the feature right Activate is needed, because we want to use the exploded cluster. Prerequisite: IsLocatable must be checked at your ClusterPoint feature form. How to check this box can be found in the corresponding feature forms at New feature.

  • Check the box of your ClusterPoint feature.
  • Click Apply.

3 Result
